Haas Corporation and Radian TCM Merge to Form Haas TCM — The
World’s Largest Independent Chemical Management Services Company
West Chester, PA - October 4, 2002 - Two leaders in
the young and rapidly growing chemical management services (CMS)
industry have merged, creating the world’s largest independent
and most diverse CMS company. The Total Chemical Management business
of Radian International LLC was acquired on October 1, 2002, by
the Haas Corporation and merged to form Haas TCM. The CMS business
is defined by strategic, long-term relationships in which a customer
contracts with a service provider to supple and manage their chemicals
and related services.
The CMS industry was started almost 20 years ago by
the automotive and semiconductor industries that outsourced the
management of their chemical lifecycle functions to chemical companies.
In contrast to these early CMS providers, Haas and
Radian entered this market strictly as service providers. Both firms
cite chemical product neutrality as a competitive advantage but
each entered the business through different markets; Haas through
the automotive industry and Radian through aerospace and defense
sector.
By taking different approaches, each firm developed
competencies in different, yet very complimentary components of
the chemical lifecycle; Haas in chemical usage and waste reduction
and Radian TCM in procurement, logistics and EHS (environmental,
health and safety) compliance. As a result, the combination of Haas
TCM produces the CMS industry’s best-in-class know how, experience
and systems spanning the entire chemical lifecycle.
“It’s the fit of our two companies that
really underscores our excitement. The synergies are incredible
and the combined resources give us state-of-the-art tools and the
scale to set new standards in the rapidly growing CMS business,”
says Thad Fortin, CEO of Haas TCM.
Headquartered in West Chester, PA, with over 250 employees,
annual revenues of $100 million and operations on three continents,
Haas TCM currently provides chemical lifecycle management services
to customers in the automotive, aerospace, electronics, semiconductors,
defense, metalworking, transportation and heavy manufacturing industries.
