General Summary
The position will assume primary responsibility for all QC and ISO activities associated with receiving, inspecting, labeling, storing, picking, and shipping chemicals from our various suppliers and our Hubs, to our multiple customers. The position will have backup responsibilities in the areas of Customer Service, preparing shipping and Hazardous Material documents, Receiving QC and Pick QC processes.
The position ensures excellent service from tier II suppliers and responds to customer needs and issues. The position is accountable for delivering program quality and quality assurance while at the same time delighting the customer.
Individual Responsibilities:
- Performs quality control review of incoming materials based upon client specifications (C of C, C of A, drawings, etc.). Utilizes client quality systems to act as Direct Quality Representative. Completes all customer required training to become certified to their standards.
- Works with Procurement team & vendors to resolve discrepancies for non-conforming materials
- Interfaces with client laboratory for testing, certification review and recertification of materials
- Reviews and assigns shelf life and storage conditions based on customer specifications and requirements
- Provides support for Procurement team on technical issues that arise before or during the process of buying materials for orders or warehouse stock
- Responds and documents corrective/preventative actions/resolutions for all customer complaints involving quality issues, and coordinates implementation of actions with involved parties
- Interfaces with client engineering groups and suppliers to resolve non-conforming material issues for items failing to meet client’s requirement.
- Disposition of scrap and expired inventory, determining root causes and communicate minimization strategies to team.
- Monitors temperature recording devices on storage units (i.e. freezers). Initiates corrective actions when outliers/failures occur
- Prepares and conducts training of team members as necessary to ensure integrity and quality of materials is maintained throughout supply chain.
- Provides backup support for hazardous materials shipping
- Provides customer support for quality and other issues, answers general material, vendor and packaging questions
- Acts within the scope of authority and remains consistent with Haas objectives, guidelines, policies and practices.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability of Haas to provide value to the customer.
- Develops solutions arising from emergency situations.
- Acts as site ISO coordinator.
- Insures all required reports are submitted correctly and in a timely manner to both internal and external customers.
- Promote and ensure effective communication with Haas corporate personnel and with customer personnel.
- Represents Operations on a system wide basis with the continual development of Best Practices and Knowledge Sharing Initiatives.
Management Responsibilities
- Assist in Managing customer relationship at sites served by Hub
- Keeps abreast of customer needs and practices affecting the Chemical Management Program and communicates pertinent information to the team.
- Promotes and ensures effective communication and teamwork among Haas TCM and customers.
- Promotes and assists in development of Tier II suppliers, oversees their technical activities and ensures they are meeting the needs of Haas and our customer.
- As assigned, oversees maintenance of site and Hub and Site equipment and processes
- Assists the team to comply with all federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, DOT, and RCRA requirements.
- Work effectively across the Supply Chain organization in a cost effective manner and with customers having varying standards and objectives Identify and manage work process improvement projects and cost reduction efforts at Hubs
- Assist in the management of our 3PL subcontractor to warehouse and deliver chemicals and to support the Hub activities
- Coordinate with Supply Chain organization and customers in setting annual goals
Education and Experience:
Five years combined experience in distribution, inventory control, purchasing and/or customer service preferred. B.S. degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Laboratory Sciences or related field a plus. Military PMOS as NBC Technician at E-6 to E-9 level accepted. Experience as a Lab Tech, Quality Control, ISO documentation, JIT delivery systems, supply chain operations and purchasing/inventory control processes and procedures desired. Experience in developing and implementing creative customer solutions a must.
Skills:
Candidate must possess the ability to express ideas clearly, orally and in writing.
Knowledge of inventory management systems and computer software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word) preferred.
